So my son is five and is constantly asking me toys… go figure, a kid that asks for toys! Well, he asks for all kinds of toys from silly pillow pets to lego space police games to crazy go karts, and more. Some toys are obvious better for his age group than others and since we have 3 birthday parties to go to this weekend (yes, three 5 year old boys!) we decided to compile a list of the best gifts for 5 year old boys and offer up our suggestions.
Dress Up Costumes For Boys
Its about time they came out with dress up clothes for boys! My son keeps his Halloween costume around for ever and lots to put it on, so I thought this was the ultimate gift for any 5 year old boy that loves to play batman or superman! Gift it alone, it is a fantastic gift, or pair it with some cool batman lego’s or something and it becomes the ultimate boys gift that they will talk about for a long time to come.

Bananagrams
Do you like Scrabble? Then you and your kiddo will love Bananagrams! It is a fast and fun word game that requires no pencil, paper or board. All you need is a table. It is a great for family fun as well as being educational. This is a family favorite of ours, but note that the suggested age is 7 and up. Personally I think kids aged four and up can benefit even if they can’t “play” the game. Getting kids to learn to spell and recognize words is the first step and making a game out of it is awesome! Find this game at your local toy store (I bought ours at Walgreens of all places) or Amazon.com
Design Your Own Monster Trucks
How about customizing your own fleet of awesome monster trucks. These creative monster truck toys are great for little boys and so much to trick out with paints, stickers, and other creative ways. We bought these last year for our four year old then and he loved designing them, and then of course zooming around the house making jump ramps and watching them race, flip, and roll. Definitely a great toy for the kid with imagination and a love for 4×4 trucks.

Uncle Miltons Moon
I could not forget Uncle Miltons moon in this list, and even though its not really a “toy” it is one of the coolest gifts a kid can receive I think- especially those kids you love exploring and are a little on the adventurous side. on this cool moon along with the glow in dark stars we also love. Turn your room into an authentically detailed 3-D lunar landscape. After your child is all tucked in for the night, Moon in My Room creates a peaceful, glowing effect for a night full of sweet dreams. Its whimsical effect is fun for adults, too! The reviews for this neat night light have all been extremely positive- you can read more here.
Perplexus Maze Game
Perplexus is a maze game where players move a small marble around challenging barriers inside a transparent sphere. Unlike traditional flat-surface mazes that are composed of one path, Perplexus offers different tracks with 100 barriers and provides a three dimensional experience. Players select which track they would like to attempt, and then must work with gravity and carefully shift, flip, and twist the sphere to guide the marble. On top of being entertaining, Perplexus is also an educational toy, similar in concentration like mindflex (read our mindflex toy review) it works to exercise their motor and dexterity skills, as well as improve their hand-eye coordination. Leap Frog Leapster 2
We love Leap Frog Leapster in our house and its one type of video game I don’t mind that he play since its educational and fun. It isĀ innovative creativity and fun that kids’ really gravitate towards and enjoy learning from. The battery-operated hand held game system goes where your children go, and is the perfect toy on the go. It comes with two pre-installed educational games, and many more are available to purchase. The included games have skill levels suitable for children ages 4 to 8 but truth be told, our 10 year old neighbor loves it as well.
